Q: How many squads are in the Cambridge Jr Cheer Program?
A: Four: currently we have 6th, 7th, and 8th grade football cheerleading squads, as well as a combined grade-level competition team.
Q: What tumbling skills are needed to make a team?
A: There are no minimum or tumbling skills required to make a sideline team; however, we encourage all interested candidates to work on their tumbling skills as much as possible prior to tryouts.
Q: What skills are evaluated at tryouts?
A: The evaluations are done over a 3-day process. The participants are evaluated on tumbling, jumps, dance, cheer, and attitude.
Q: What is the time commitment required if my child is selected for a football squad?
A: Sideline cheer practices begin first week of June and each cheerleader will be expected to attend all practices, all camp days and all football games for their grade level. Practices for football sideline cheer will be 1 day a week plus additional summer and fall practices. Please visit the Important Dates page for actual date information.
Q: What is the time commitment required if my child is selected for the competition squad?
A: Competition team has a HIGHER level of commitment. Practices will begin in May and will be held 1-3 times a week with 2-3 practices a week beginning in June. Mandatory choreography camp is scheduled in May. Competition team competes in the Fall (September and extends through early November). The competition team also practices through the summer. Expect to compete in 3-4 competitions on Saturdays or Sundays.

A: Cambridge Junior Cheer continually works to keep costs to a minimum; however, cheer is an expensive sport. And yes, there are additional costs for competition team cheerleaders. Forms Tab has an estimate of the 2018 fee schedule.
